Depression

What is Depression?

Sadness is a natural human response, often triggered by loss or situations that hold significant emotional value but do not unfold as expected. During difficult times, sadness helps communicate our need for support. While sadness is a shared emotional experience, it can become concerning when it persists over time and is accompanied by other distressing emotions. This prolonged emotional state may signal the presence of depression.

Depression is more than just feeling down; it is a serious mental health condition that can affect anyone, influencing a person’s emotions, physical health, thoughts, and behaviors. Depressive symptoms can manifest in various forms, including conditions such as postpartum depression.

Common signs of depression may include:

Severity of Depression

Depression manifests differently for everyone, with symptoms varying in type, intensity, frequency, and duration.
