Mary Kollia is a licensed psychologist (professional practice licence – protocol number: 4346/07-11-2019).
She was born and raised in Athens, Greece, and resided in Brussels, Belgium, for several years.
In 2015, after successfully passing the Greek national exams, she was admitted to the Psychology Department of Panteion University. During her studies, she worked in a day center for Perinatal Mental Disorders, where she acquired valuable knowledge in assessing and supporting people with perinatal mental health difficulties (Perinatal Anxiety, Postpartum Depression, etc.). She also voluntarily worked for the Pan-Hellenic Union for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Professional Reincorporation. In the frame of her studies, she conducted research on Post-Traumatic Growth in women with breast cancer. For the purposes of her research project, she interacted with multiple women at the breast unit of ‘Elena Venizelou’ General Hospital, where she had the opportunity to examine a wide range of Post-Traumatic Growth enabling factors. In 2019 she graduated from Panteion University with a grade of 9.27/10 – Excellent.
In 2020, she moved to the Netherlands, where she started her Master’s studies in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University . She gained substantial theoretical knowledge and practical experience in evaluating and developing therapeutic interventions for people with various mental health difficulties, such as Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, etc. In the frame of her internship, she collaborated with Leiden University and conducted therapeutic sessions with adults who were going through Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders, and interpersonal difficulties. She completed her Master’s studies and graduated from Leiden University cum laude.
During 2020-2024 she completed a 4-year training program in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) provided by the Association of Cognitive – Behavioural Studies (ACBS). The program includes theoretical training, practical experience, and supervision in accordance with the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT) standards.
To enhance her therapeutic experience, in 2021-22 she followed a training program in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), provided by the Association of Cognitive – Behavioural Studies (ACBS).
In 2024 she was trained in EMDR therapy provided by Trauma Therapy Institute . The training program is recognized by the European EMDR professional association EMDR Europe and EMDR Hellas.
All these years, she has attended numerous psychology conferences, to be kept up to date on the latest, evidence-based data in the clinical field.
Her research background includes –amongst others- research on various mental and physical health difficulties (Chronic Diseases, Depression, Anxiety, etc.), research collaborations, and translations. Throughout her professional career, she has encountered Anxiety Disorders (Social Anxiety Disorders, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder), Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Illness Anxiety, Personality Disorders, interpersonal difficulties, etc.
Currently, she conducts therapeutic sessions both online and in person. She also collaborates with an online clinic abroad, offering therapeutic services to people worldwide. At the same time, she collaborates with an assisted reproduction (IVF) clinic and an Obstetrics and Gynecology practice in Greece. She provides therapy in both English and Greek.
